transformation

I've been meaning to post some pictures of the transformation that our family room went through. Here's what it looked like before: Wood paneling all over the walls, a huge old window low to the ground, and... a bar. Yes, a bar in the corner of the room. With a low sink, mini fridge and some shelves ready for all of that alcohol we consume. It all had to go.A picture during the remodel. Unfortunately we had to keep the ugly AC unit in the wall because we don't have central AC and we're not going to be getting it any time soon. So, I am grateful that we have something. And some after shots. Here are a few pictures of Porter's room. Porter likes to sleep in the crack between the wall and his mattress. Loch's roomWe decided it would be fun to set up the tepee grandma cheryl got the boys for Christmas last year. We have been reading some fun books to Porter lately that he enjoys. We finished James and the Giant Peach and Three Tales of My Father's Dragon. We got through the first few chapters of The Indian in the Cupboard and decided to wait until he's a little older. We are currently reading Peter Pan and also The Story of Doctor Dolittle. Porter has quite an imagination. Since Matt and I are both reading to him, it's hard to decipher where we left off. Porter can usually flip through and use the pictures and distinct look of chapter titles to find what page he's on. My little guy is looking more like a big guy. He'll be 1 in 12 days! Porter got a new army dude helmet the other day. He wore it the whole way home from the store and most of that evening. He thought he was pretty indestructible. Happy birthday to Grandpa Phil. You're an awesome dad and grandpa!
