happy halloween!

The past couple months have been surprisingly busy. Whoever said the third year of law school was all play and no work must have gone to a different school than me. Not that I have spent a lot of time actually doing schoolwork, but everything else in life has been busy. My guess is that it has something to do with Porter, but that's just a guess....He is pretty good at sitting by himself (with a little initial help from us), but he usually slumps forward and puts his face between his knees. We've gotten him to stand by himself a couple times, but after awhile he will just start leaning to one side until he tips over! We usually catch him! Porter celebrated his first Halloween this week. He dressed up as a toad (thanks Sherry!) and we went to the law school's Halloween party for kids. He didn't do much trick-or-treating, but he did manage to snag a Mr. Goodbar and chew/drool on the wrapper. He also tried on a pumpkin for a costume. We found out that he is fond of raw pumpkin! A couple weeks ago we went to a pumpkin patch and apple orchard. Porter seemed pretty excited to pick out his own pumpkin, but luckily babies have such a short memory that once we pulled him away from it, he had already forgotten about it so we didn't have to buy it for him! The apples were good, but the fresh apple cider was better. While there, Porter had his first ride on a tractor (and by ride, I simply mean that we set him on a stationary tractor seat for a couple minutes). We spent nearly two weeks in San Diego at the beginning of October. It was great to see Conor, who just returned from his mission in Chile. We had fun spending time with family, eating good food (we'll get you next time Point Loma Seafood!), going to the San Diego Zoo, and basically just relaxing. Not that I did not have schoolwork to take care of, but I find working in San Diego while on vacation to be next to impossible.
