peaches & hikes

We have spent the last two weekends exploring some of the hidden treasures of Utah. Last week we went to Peach Days in Brigham City, where we encountered a small town parade, a carnival including Porter's first ferris wheel ride, peach cobbler, and delicious peaches. We bought an entire bucket and have already eaten almost all of them! Afterwards we drove to Promontory Point, where the last spike was driven on the first transcontinental railroad. It was interesting to see that little nugget of history, but I am certain we will never go back!

Yesterday afternoon we went hiking in Big Cottonwood Canyon. Our first hike was about a mile long trek along a mountain stream, surrounded by pine and aspen trees. We ended up at a beautiful waterfall cascading through a rock ceiling known as Donut Falls. I had Porter in the Bjorn and he loved it. He somehow slept the entire hike back! After Donut Falls we drove several miles further up the canyon to Silver Lake, near Brighton. It was a little chilly and Porter looked cute riding in his stroller in his hooded sweatshirt.
